5 Ways to Recycle Eggshells

5 Nature-Inspired Ways to Use Eggshells in Play:

  1. Dino Rescue Smash – Fill eggshells with gelatine and a tiny nature-themed creature or fossil (like a mini dino or bug). Chill overnight and let little ones crack them open and explore.

  2. Nature Brews – Add coloured water, petals, leaves, herbs, and other garden finds into eggshells and freeze overnight to create mini potions or garden brews. Great for role play and sensory discovery.

  3. Eggshell Candles – Use cleaned eggshell halves as natural candle moulds. Add wax (I use soy), a wick, and a drop if essential oil for a beautiful nature-inspired project (adult supervision required).

  4. Tiny Planters – Plant quick-growing seeds like grass, wheat, or herbs in eggshells. A great way to talk about plant life cycles and responsibility.

  5. Make Your Own Chalk – Crush dried eggshells into a fine powder and mix with flour, water and natural pigments to create homemade nature chalk for outdoor drawing and mark-making.
